Membership

Becoming a member at First Lutheran Church is a simple process designed to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus and get connected with the people and programs of First Lutheran.

If you have been attending First Lutheran as a visitor, thanks for  joining us! We would like to extend to you the invitation to become a fully committed member of our community. To help you understand and connect with the full life of our church community, we've designed a simple membership process:

FLC101

At FLC101, you'll hear our Senior Pastor Steve Turnbull share the vision and heart of First Lutheran and answer your individual questions about our church. You will meet a variety of First Lutheran staff members and take a tour of our building. You'll also get a chance to get to know some other members of First Lutheran and hear about their experience here.

At the FLC101 class, you will be given the opportunity to fill out our membership profile and covenant. This allows us to have your basic information and gives you a chance to sign on to the core values of First Lutheran and make a commitment to Christ and to this community of His followers.

The congregation will welcome new members on a Sunday soon after each FLC101. This is an opporunity for new members to publically affirm their desire to join the First Lutheran Church Community. We would love to celebrate you into our community on one of these future Sundays!

Next Steps, or "Why should I become a member anyway?"

Everyone is always welcome to participate in all of our ministries and programs, but becoming a member is a sign that you are committed to the ongoing work of God in and through this church. One part of our commitment to the Lord Jesus is a commitment to His people and His work on earth. It implies that you will support the congregation with your time, talent, and money. As a member you will also be invited to vote on important items that will affect the direction of this congregation in the future.

After FLC101, we strongly encourage you to take your next steps of growth as a disciple of Jesus. Most people move from FLC 101 directly to our Alpha course. This 10-week course is a practical (re)introduction to the Christian faith and has been profoundly important in the lives of many people here at First Lutheran and around the world. Alpha meets weekly with meetings including a snack or full meal depending on time of day or evening, a large-group teaching, and small group time. Childcare is provided. After FLC101 you might also like to try one of the other current FLC201 opportunities or find yoru place in an ongoing community group.
